Feeding instructions

Life stage

% of body weight/day

Notes

Puppies (from 6 weeks)

4–6%

Start with weaning paste (3–6 weeks), then puppy formula once weaned. By 4 months, can move onto normal adult formulas depending on breed/size — larger breeds transition sooner but still need puppy rations until fully grown.

Adult dogs (over 6 months)

2–3% of ideal body weight

Feed twice a day.

Quick reference (adult dogs, 2–3%):

  • 5kg dog → 100–150g/day

  • 10kg dog → 200–300g/day

  • 20kg dog → 400–600g/day

  • 30kg dog → 600–900g/day

  • 40kg dog → 800–1200g/day

Puppy reference (4–6%):

  • 5kg → 200–300g/day

  • 10kg → 400–600g/day

  • 20kg → 800–1200g/day

  • 30kg → 1200–1800g/day

These are all guides — individual dogs/cats may need more or less to maintain ideal body condition.

Storage

  • Delivery: arrives frozen in insulated boxes that keep food frozen for 2–3 days in transit — into the freezer as soon as it arrives.

  • Frozen storage: keeps for up to 12 months in the freezer (best-before date on pack).

  • Defrosting: always defrost in the fridge, covered — never at room temperature.

  • Once defrosted: use within 3–4 days (Nutriment's product pages) — the hygiene page says 2–3 days, so the safer, consistent line to use is use within 2–3 days, keeping it in the fridge throughout.

  • Never refreeze once defrosted.

Hygiene tips

  • Keep raw food away from cooked meat/food prep areas to avoid cross-contamination.

  • Use a stainless steel bowl where possible (easier to sanitise); if using another material, check for no chips or cracks.

  • Wash all bowls and utensils with warm soapy water after each use.

  • Disinfect any surfaces the raw food has touched.
